Our goal at The Shark's Tail is to facilitate your travels and allow you to have an enjoyable stay. Find frequently asked questions here.

How do I get to The Shark's Tail Dive Resort in Malapascua?
You can reach Malapascua by flying into Cebu City, then taking a 3-4 hour car ride to Maya Port, where you can hop on a boat to the island. The boat ride is approximately 30 minutes. We can help arrange transport for you, just let us know!

Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes, we offer private and shared transfer options from Cebu Mactan Airport to Maya Port and onward to Malapascua. Please contact us in advance to book your transfer.

What kind of accommodation options do you offer?
We have a variety of rooms to suit different budgets, from budget-friendly rooms to more luxurious options with air conditioning. All rooms are comfortable and close to the dive shop and restaurant.

Is there Wi-Fi at the resort?
Yes, our resort offers free Starlink Wi-Fi in the rooms and common areas like the restaurant and bar, so you can stay connected during your stay.

Can I see thresher sharks all year round?
Yes! Malapascua is one of the few places in the world where you can see thresher sharks year-round. The best time to dive with them is early in the morning when they come to the Kimud Shoal cleaning stations.

Do I need to be an experienced diver to see the thresher sharks?
To see the sharks. you'll need at minimum an Open Water certification. We can arrange for you to take the Open Water course with us. Inquire through our chat for more details.

What is the cancellation policy?We understand that plans can change. For bookings canceled 7 days in advance, we offer a full refund. For cancellations made within 7 days, there is a no refund policy. Please check our full terms on the website for more details.

What dive gear is available for rent?
We have a full range of dive gear available for rent, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks. If you prefer to bring your own gear, you're welcome to do so, and we can store it for you in our locked and secure room.

What other dive sites can I visit besides Kimud Shoal?
Apart from Kimud Shoal, there are several other amazing dive sites like Gato Island (for underwater caves and white-tip sharks), Monad Shoal (for tiger sharks!), and coral gardens teeming with marine life. We have dives suitable for all levels!

Do you offer dive packages?
Yes, we offer several dive packages, including accommodation and multiple dives. Contact us for more details, and we’ll help you choose a package that fits your needs.

Do you offer food and drink options at the resort?
Absolutely! Our restaurant and bar serve a range of local and international dishes. You can enjoy drinks and snacks by the pool or in the bar area.

Can I book day trips or other activities if I’m not diving?
Yes, we can help you arrange day trips, including island hopping, snorkeling, or visiting nearby landmarks. You can also enjoy our swimming pool and relax at the bar or the beach.

What should I pack for my stay?
Pack light, comfortable clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, bug repellent and dive gear if you have your own. Don’t forget your certification card if you’re diving. We recommend reef-safe sunscreen to protect marine life. We recommend bringing enough cash for your stay, as cash is the most reliable way of payment throughout the island.

What payment options are available?
We accept cash, paypal, and bank transfers. Please note that there are few ATMs on Malapascua which are not always reliable. It's best to bring cash with you or withdraw money before arriving.

Is Malapascua safe for tourists?
Yes, Malapascua is a very safe and welcoming island. Our resort is secure, and we take extra precautions to ensure our guests have a peaceful and enjoyable stay. With other 10 cameras in the resort and a security guard throughout the evening to morning hours, we are sure you can feel safe at The Shark's Tail Dive Resort.

What is the weather like in Malapascua?
Malapascua enjoys a tropical climate. The dry season typically runs from December to May, while the rainy season is from June to November. However, diving is possible year-round, and thresher sharks can be seen in all weather conditions.

Can I visit if I don’t dive?
Definitely! While diving is a highlight of Malapascua, the island offers stunning beaches, snorkeling, and opportunities for relaxation. Our resort provides a perfect base for non-divers to enjoy the island too.
